Costa Rica 2025 Mission Trip

Published: 2024-09-05

Dates:  June, 2025
Cost: $1,600-1,900 per person depending on airfare costs
Space Available: Limited to 25 people

  • We will partner with one of our missionaries, Adam Carlsen, and Gracia Missions to host a HOPE Project camp at partner Camp Roblealto, for youth from an at-risk slum community nearby. Trip members will assist with the operation of the camp.
  • Besides camp, depending on the circumstances, members may be able to visit/help at a nearby orphanage, work on projects at camp and perhaps assist with the program at the new youth facility with long-time partner “Sonrisas Con Esperanza” (Smiles with Hope) who ministers in the community of nearby Guarari.
  • Two “Tourism Days” will be planned to visit some of the interesting and beautiful sites in Costa Rica. There may also be opportunity to explore the local camp area as well.
  • To reserve your spot, a $500 deposit is required. This will cover the airline flight deposit. A check made out to the church can be dropped off at the church office with Athena (or Nathan), or you can pay online HERE and add a note that the amount is for your deposit. A personal information sheet can be filled out below with contact information for us to follow up.
  • For those who cannot attend but want to financially support this trip or an individual, tax receipted gifts can be given at the church office or through our online giving portal. NOTE: A gift receiving a tax deduction cannot be directed to a specific individual per IRS regulations. Gifts must be made out to the church but can have a “requested” or “suggested” use for a specific individual. Church leadership will oversee the distribution of donated funds and make every effort to satisfy individual requests for help from trip members. (Of course, a gift can be given directly to a trip individual without receiving a tax-deductible receipt).
  • Camp Roblealto, our host site, is located at an elevation of about 4,500 feet. The 40-acre camp has cabins with bunk beds where we will stay. Bedding is provided, except for sheets. The entire camp is on a sloping hillside, requiring regular walking up and downhill. If personal health conditions make it difficult or impossible to manage these conditions, you may want to consider not participating in this trip. Weather in July is usually pleasantly warm, with rain possible off and on. Camp Roblealto has covered areas to accommodate activities if it rains.
  • Sponsoring this trip in July will allow for kids and families to attend. Kids must be 12+ years old unless special approval is given. Schedule and activities will be planned with kids in mind.
  • Once a spot is reserved, more information will be provided, and orientation meetings will be scheduled. Final payment information will be determined based on the airline policies.
  • For more information, contact Jeff or Jean Carlsen (carlsenj@hotmail.com; 971-601-8283), Pastor Nathan or Church Administrator, Athena. Information will also be posted at beachcommunity.org.

We look forward to a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship together. Prior trips in 2019 and 2023 had a huge impact on those we served as well as on those who participated. See you in Costa Rica!
