The Lenten Season

Published: 2026-02-09

On Ash Wednesday, February 18, we began the six-week Season of Lent. We invite you to make Lenten Commitments, with ways to Feast and Fast as we grow in our Lord Jesus Christ in preparation for Holy Week. We hope you can also join us for Lenten Taize services on two Friday evenings, March 6 and March 20 at 7:00PM. The Latin word ‘lent’ means ‘lengthen,’ as in the lengthening of daylight and budding of new growth. During this season we allow the Lord to prune away branches in our lives that are not bearing fruit. We do this through spiritual disciplines such as fasting, silence, solitude, confession, and unplugging. We also allow the Lord to plant into our lives new ways for spiritual growth to bear much fruit in our future, and all of this is for His glory. Sabbath-keeping, journaling, meditation on God’s Word, memorizing Scripture and prayer all help us to deepen our lives in relationship with the Lord. May we experience spiritual renewal and growth as we abide in His word and allow His spirit to transform our lives.
