An Example to Live By

This week we conclude our study in the Epistles of John by looking at the examples of Gaius and Diotrephes in John’s third letter. Seeking to imitate what is good, we will learn from Gaius’ example of hospitality as he supports and participates in the advancement of the Gospel in his city. Diotrephes, however, will teach us what not to do as he allows selfish ambition and ego to keep him from welcoming others as the Lord has so generously received each of us. John’s final word to the church is a word of encouragement, love, fellowship and peace.
